Daria Alexandrova ‘And then there was light’

At first glance, it would seem Daria Alexandrova was born to be a model. Later in life, she would discover her love of visual arts, particularly in the form of analogue photography. For her beautiful new series, she captures Dasha Kashirina in natural afternoon light.

“On the day of the shoot my original model didn’t show up. Why? Only the God knows! While I was waiting for my replacement model to arrive I was passing the time with self-portraits & watching the dark morning sky turn into the most beautiful afternoon light. & then Dasha appeared, together with the sun rays.

In the mood for Russian neorealism. A rare glance of winter sunlight on a skin naked. Just a tone for another moscowian blues. A nakedness shown simply for a taste of freedom.”
