Emma Hutton ‘Bloody luxury’
New Zealand based fine art student drop-out Mico Gaerlan brings us a shoot that doubles as an online protest & aims to break the silence on menstrual taboos one pad at a time. The inspiration for the shoot came about after reading an article on the Australian ‘Tampon Tax’. Unaware that sanitary products were taxed under ‘Luxury’ items. The discovery leads the creative team to create strong visual images using Melbourn Fashion designer, Emma Hutton’s collection.
“It was 30th of September. We proceeded to Melbourne City Baths to create some magic -Period. The idea behind this editorial was to bring the public into the intimate location of a bathroom for a public protest. It’s all about bringing menstruation out of hiding & into the everyday life of all humans.”
