Annika Weertz ‘Dream A little dream of me’
Germany photographer, Annika Weertz uses her intimate portraits to promote desexualisation of the female body & the dismantling of gender stereotypes. For her debut feature she captures the beautiful Frida on a lo-fi 35mm film (adox colour implosion) for its toxic grain & surreal colours to give the series an extra dreamy & retro feel.
“Frida & I live in the same town & we had been following each other on Instagram for a while before I found out she is a friend of a friend that I have already worked with. She caught my attention because she had a certain look on her face that I find others don’t have. The shooting was hugely inspired by the song “Dream A Little Dream of Me”. I wanted to create a melancholic afternoon story with a vintage touch, in which the camera observes a girl spending time on her own, not knowing what to do with herself, daydreaming & being lost in thought.”
