Aysia Marotta ‘Give a damn’
Brooklyn photographer, Aysia Marotta spent a good portion of her life trying to find her place in this world, where she “belongs”. “I’ve only realized recently that I truly belong behind a camera, telling other peoples’ stories, & writing stories of my own through visuals. I am a maker of moments via imagery, both moving & still.”
Today Aysia presents her debut series staring a familiar face, singer/actress Laura Hajek, who you might remember from our ‘Shitty interview’ as front woman of experimental pop band, ‘Edith Pop‘.
“With the induction of #45, January 20th, 2017 was seen as a tragic day by people all over the globe. However, on January 21st, 2017, some faith had been restored after 2.9 million people in the United States walked in the ‘Women’s March’, making it the biggest protest in US History.
I set aside time before the protest to photograph actress/singer Laura Hajek, to try & encapsulate the modern woman: A woman who is angry, who is determined for change, who is resisting.”
