Shitty Interview No.46
Last week this gorgeous exclusive film series by Emily Alben starring New Orleans Rapper, Boyfriend turned up in my inbox & my first thought was to ask her if she would like to be my BFF.
Boyfriend has been called a “mysterious, raunchy feminist” by NPR, a “sex-positive English nerd” by Huffington Post & “endearingly weird” by Paper Magazine, but perhaps, like the Grand Canyon, she is best witnessed in the flesh. Fresh off a national tour with Big Freedia, Boyfriend is gearing up for the release of the third & final instillment of her ‘Love Your Boyfriend’ project with a set of EP’s.
Now to get to know her a little better, here in our Sticks & Stones shitty interview with Boyfriend.
Sticks & Stones: Last time you did something & then thought “fuck, I probably shouldn’t have done that”?
Boyfriend: Man cannot live on regrets. Neither, it seems, can a women.
Sticks & Stones: You have to swap your right arm with a household item, what do you chose?
Boyfriend: A martini glass, naturally.
Sticks & Stones: Last lie you told?
Boyfriend: I never lie… I just re-decorate the truth.
Sticks & Stones: Ask anyone, dead or alive, one question.
Boyfriend: I’m dying to know Cleopatra’s pubic hair situation.
Sticks & Stones: The last thing you did that made someone smile?
Boyfriend: I told a stranger she was beautiful & she gave me a hug (I wasn’t even hitting on her, for the record). I think women need to compliment each other more! & “where did you get those shoes?” doesn’t count.
Sticks & Stones: Last time you got in a fight? What was it about?
Boyfriend: I’m a peaceful soul… but last year I snuck 500 cupcakes into a Buku festival show & started a food fight during my performance. Rap Cabaret has never been so violent, nor so sticky… yet…
Sticks & Stones: Best thing thats happened this year?
Boyfriend: Plateau baby. I prefer to view things as steady, never mind those pesky peaks which create valleys… oh the valleys.
Sticks & Stones: What are you looking forward to?
Boyfriend: Finding the perfect pair of slippers for the day-to-evening transition (some are just too casual).
Sticks & Stones: What do you spend most of your waking hours doing?
Sticks & Stones: Number in order of importance; Sex, Alcohol, Music, Exercise, Green leafy plants.
Boyfriend: All number 1.
