Shitty Interview No.62
Recently our photog homie, Bryan Ocegueda showed us a film clip (enclosed) that he had just finished working on for 3-piece (Brandon Spain, Joselito Rey & Seth Duran) Fresno rap boy band, SAGEY. He went on to tell us about their intense shows & heavy lyrics & that “they are probably three of the nicest guys I know.”
The idea for the video originally stemmed from Brandon wanting to somewhat shock family & friends who didn’t support his decision to quit his job & really push forward with SAGEY. Bryan explains further…
“We had the setting, an old decrepit warehouse that Seth’s (drummer) dad is currently renovating. We spent a few hours cleaning & clearing & played around with ideas that would fit the space. Brandon said something about “cult-like” activity & from there, the concept of an all-girl cult with nudist rituals & sacrificial torture & murder unfolded before us.”
Fresh out of one of their latest live shows, Danielle La France sums up what its like to witness SAGEY in the flesh.
“SAGEY delivers heavy beats that melt the stage & make the audience go berserk. They’re a force to be reckoned with.
Brandon is the face of the band, the rapper who drops gold bars at breakneck speed & has the stage presence of a Tasmanian devil. He’s not afraid to occasionally hurl into the crowd & get physical with the sweaty, angry kids that enjoy smashing into each other for the art.
Joselito is the DJ, conjuring crazy ass industrial beats that slap harder than a Jehovah’s Witness mother with a faithless child. Seth is a young Zach Hill. Much like Death Grips, SAGEY just wouldn’t be the same without some bonkers live drums rides & fills. Seth is technically equipped to handle the kind of fiery volatile energy that SAGEY hopes to accomplish.
The band is a staple of the Fresno music scene. They attend a lot of shows as openers, but end up filling out the joint with a shit ton of their own fans; making new ones along the way.
In general, SAGEY is wild.”
