Shitty Interview No.66
I AM SNOW ANGEL is a sound that fuses digital & organic elements, that’s both earthy & ethereal. The music is composed, performed, produced & engineered by recording artist Julie Kathryn. Her newest EP, Desert, is a project that illustrates the subtle complexities of desire, passion & longing.
Enclosed is her newest release ‘Losing Face’, which features music & dancing by the multi talented beauty herself.
Recently she also teamed up with our homie, Danny Scott for this electric 35mm shooting.
Please also enjoy our Sticks & Stones shitty interview with I Am Snow Angel 🙂
Sticks & Stones: Last thing you did to help make the world a better place?
I Am Snow Angel: Empowering women in the music industry!! I co-founded “Female Frequency” last year. We encourage women to collaborate & produce their own music from start to finish, rather than always feeling like they have to rely on male producers & engineers.
Sticks & Stones: Best thing in your fridge right now? Worst thing in your fridge right now?
I Am Snow Angel: Best – Adirondack maple syrup that my mom sent me from home. Worst – Half-a-bottle of very old diet coke that for some reason I’m reluctant to throw away, even though I think it’s toxic & I’m definitely not going to drink it.
Sticks & Stones: What did you do today?
I Am Snow Angel: Meditated, finished some renovations to my home studio, worked on a new track & did some random NYC errands. Ate lots of weird snacks throughout the day with no real meals.
Sticks & Stones: Something we could read or watch that would change our lives forever.
I Am Snow Angel: ‘Tao Te Ching’ (read it!)
Sticks & Stones: Please shout out 5 thing you fuck with right now.
I Am Snow Angel: Reversed vocal sounds, aliens, electric guitars, flip-flops, cold-brew coffee.
Sticks & Stones: Stacking dick or stacking pancakes?
I Am Snow Angel: I had to google “stacking dicks”. Stacking pancakes – yes – ‘Dancing Deer Baking Co’ Pumpkin spice pancake & waffle mix. Then I googled “Stacking pancakes”. I need some time to contemplate this one before deciding.
Sticks & Stones: Who you wanna invite onto a track?
I Am Snow Angel: Matt Berninger (from The National & EL VY), Chet Faker, Grimes, The XX, Leonard Cohen. (I couldn’t narrow it down to one).
Sticks & Stones: They say you learn something new every day. What did you learn today?
I Am Snow Angel: How to assemble a bar stool. How to assemble & hang a peg board. Both new additions to my studio. The peg board is for hanging all of my cables & wires. The stool is for me to sit on when I’m playing guitar.
Sticks & Stones: What animal makes you shit your pants the most?
I Am Snow Angel: My dog Sophie is the sweetest, weirdest, most loveable animal I have ever encountered.
Sticks & Stones: What do you believe in?
I Am Snow Angel: Love & Service (& music).
