Shitty Interview No.89

Critically acclaimed New Zealand band LEISURE continue to amass widespread plaudits globally on account of their slick tones & incredible live performances. Their beautifully crafted new singles ‘The Hype’ / ‘Tied Up’ (enclosed) give listeners another glimpse of what’s to come from the band this year.

With ‘The Hype’ combining strong guitar elements & an addictively rhythmic melody, ‘Tied Up’ showcases the band’s rich jazz tones, with both singles following the release of their previous tracks ‘Easy Way Out’, ‘Falling’ & ‘Feeling Free’. These tracks are taken from LEISURE’s forthcoming album out this Summer.

Not stopping there, the release precedes LEISURE’s highly-anticipated return to Europe in May. The schedule will see the band perform shows in London, Paris & Berlin, before making a double appearance at Brighton’s The Great Escape. These dates will follow the band’s forthcoming Australia gigs later this month, with the band already selling out Melbourne, & Sydney also currently close to capacity.

In the meantime, Please enjoy our Sticks & Stones Shitty Interview with LEISURE.

Sticks & Stones: what’s important?
Leisure: Family & friends, manners, heart & soul, respect, memes.

Sticks & Stones: What bills are you avoiding paying right now?
Leisure: On top of the bills thank God. Should probably go to the dentist though.

Sticks & Stones: Please number in order of importance – 1 being most important & 5 being fuck off – Kale, Blowjobs, The Colour Brown, NBA, Jandals.
Leisure: Damn, that’s all subjective. I like blowjobs. Kale is alright but overrated. The colour brown? I don’t really like any colours in particular. I am a black & white kind of guy. (But if you’re aiming at political/social connotations then yes, equality is important). Don’t care about sports or jandals.

Sticks & Stones: What inspires/uninspires you?
Leisure: Inspires – Coffee, weed, RDR2, Good music, art, movies, weirdos. Uninspires – Traffic.

Sticks & Stones: First thing you think about when you wake up in the morning?
Leisure: Coffee & clean socks. Hope it’s rainy/cold so I don’t have to wear fuckin shorts.

Sticks & Stones: First thing you do when you get off tour?
Leisure: We haven’t really toured like that yet. But if we’ve gone on a road trip I like to hang out with my girlfriend, watch movies & do face masks/pampers. Eat yum food in bed.

Sticks & Stones: Last thing you said sorry for?
Leisure: Um, I think I blamed Holly for not being able to find the keys even though I used the car last. Sorry Holly xx

Sticks & Stones: Last book you read?
Leisure: I was reading “dreamcatcher’ by Stephen King but got bored of it pretty quickly. I recently bought Jordan Peterson’s new book which is cool so far. I don’t read as much as I used to or want to. Currently using an ‘Introduction to Carl jung’ as a mpsquito swatter. Legit had 50 in our room one night & I got em all (sorry Buddhists).
