Sticks & Stones Shitty Interview No.97

Google the word ‘monobrow’ & the first image that likely shows up is a smiling Sophia Hadjipanteli self-styled to perfection with an angelic youthful face framed by blonde long locks & a dark thick eyebrow. At this moment two life-altering things happen inside your head; you realise that any preconceptions or prejudice you had about a thick luxuriant unibrow is completely false unibrows can, in fact, enhance beauty. & then you go away feeling inspired to fuck off what everyone else’s preferences of you are & live by your own beauty standards.

The Greek Cypriot American goddess might have started her #UnibrowMovement by mistake when she accidentally dyed her naturally blonde eyebrows black, but Sophia has been revolutionising the fashion & beauty industries ever since, sparking global conversation about how hair defines humans & especially women.

Despite being bullied by her conservative classmates, Sophia has always chosen to be herself, whatever that looks like, & her unapologetic approach to her style & life is nothing short of inspirational! Sophia was an obvious candidate for a Shitty interview in our “hair” themed book & the perfect representation of everything Sticks & Stones stands for.

SHOP BOOK

Sticks & Stones: Last time you did something & thought “oh fuck, probs shouldn’t have done that!”?
Sophia Hadjipanteli: Every single time I dye my hair lol fml.

Sticks & Stones: What’s worth fighting for?
Sophia Hadjipanteli: The people who love you unconditionally. Everything little me hoped & wished for My dream #unibrowmovemnt!

Sticks & Stones: What/who inspires you?
Sophia Hadjipanteli: People who wake up to a ‘no’ &  go to sleep dreaming about their ‘yes’. Who never give up on their dreams.. ever! My Mama, the people in my DM’s (I always read them).

Sticks & Stones: You have to swap out your right arm for something in your house. What do you choose & why?
Sophia Hadjipanteli: An I-phone charger because I swear my phone is always dead lol. Fun fact, I spend most of my time playing I-phone games, not Instagram. I love Wordscapes.

Sticks & Stones: Things you fuck with right now?
Sophia Hadjipanteli: Loyalty, ruffles ruffles ruffles, primary colours, Jean-Paul Gaultier mesh dresses, Little Women LA 10/10 would recommend.

Sticks & Stones: Can you tell us something about you that we can’t already read on the internet?
Sophia Hadjipanteli: I loooove sharks.

Sticks & Stones: Was there a “fuck it” moment in your life, or have you always felt confident in the way you look?
Sophia Hadjipanteli: TBH I never really cared much about other people growing up so that “fuck it” mentality came pretty naturally to me but the more you say it the more you believe it!!

Sticks & Stones: Best advice you can offer to those who aren’t as confident in their own skin?
Sophia Hadjipanteli: Coming from someone who has (& still is) been there, this is what I have to say: in your life there will be sooo many people who will not like you for countless reasons… so it is your responsibility to be on your own team & believe in yourself when there are people out there who are hoping you fail. P.S you got this.

Sticks & Stones: What do you consider your best personality trait?
Sophia Hadjipanteli: I will honestly go to hell & back for the people I love & not even give it a second thought!

Sticks & Stones: What makes you happy? What makes you sad/mad?
Sophia Hadjipanteli: Happy; family, Zac, Cyprus, eyebrows, vintage jeans, Billy Idol, hoop earrings, my jewellery, Pierre, George Michael, Smiles. Sad/mad; “no”, Instagram (lol), narrow mindedness, bullying, ignorance.
