Sticks & Stones Shitty Interview No.126

Following the recent release of her new project from Underground Tokyo, today we have the pleasure of Shitty Interviewing our dear friend and artist RHYME.

LISTEN

RHYME drives deep on her own lane in a self-titled genre of her own. Through poetry and sound she masterfully collides the newness of our ever-changing world with the echoes of the genres that have marked both cities and decades on their own such as Rock & Roll, Spoken Word, Electronic, Electro/Techno, Hip Hop, and Experimental. RHYME plays the saxophone (alto and Soprano), the Japanese koto, and the piano, programming her compositions on Ableton.

Discovered in Japan as the muse of “RHYME.SO”, a collaborating unit made up by a legend of the Japanese music scene, Shinichi Osawa, RHYME shows us that beyond muse, she’s also an artist… and one with extraordinary talents for songwriting & production. Hence, RHYME has garnered accolades from BILLBOARD, ATTITUDE, FLAUNT Magazine, Women in Pop, EARMILK, and other staples in the industry.

This project consists of 4 singles and 1 mix spaced out over 2 weeks of release air. ‘Hatsuyume’ means first dream and this was based around RHYME’s first dream of the year. The tough sounds and penetrating bass mixed with delicate koto and experimental relics will leave a lasting impression. The project includes a lineup of high profile feature artists and visual artists to match.

Sticks & Stones: What’s your drink?
Rhyme: A top hat filled with plum infused hot sake with a singular rubber ducky floating on the cortex end. there must be a cello player in the west corner of the room plucking that jazz scale back and forth for the durations of the sip.

Sticks & Stones: What’s a good idea for an App?
Rhyme: An app to end all apps. AND remind thee of interacting with each other in real life. Stranger or not.

Sticks & Stones: List five songs on the soundtrack to your life.
Rhyme: Rooster or check my brain- Alice in Chains. The Soft Parade- The Doors. Sorry but the Whole ‘Confessions on a Dancefloor’ album- Madonna. Cryptorchid- Marilyn Manson. NOT sorry but the whole ‘Eminem Show’ – Eminem.

Sticks & Stones: Coolest person you’ve met?
Rhyme: Well I looked in the mirror this morning and…

Sticks & Stones: What are you nervous about?
Rhyme: My two faced guardian angel demon thing, the internet girl.

Sticks & Stones: Best horror movie?
Rhyme: (See illustration).

Sticks & Stones: Dream travel destination?
Rhyme: Kings landing from GOT, Cuba & Italy.

Sticks & Stones: Have you ever missed a flight?
Rhyme: It’s always “almost man…” but c’mon I am a Capricorn, we don’t miss much.

Sticks & Stones: Can you do anything rad on a trampoline?
Rhyme: Yeah. something like jump+spin+land ass rebound+jump+knee+knee land rebound+ star jump.

Sticks & Stones: Give us some shitty advice.
Rhyme: Advice be nice, with self learned spice, there’s no need to fret, on less lived gets. Hesitating will make it harder, if you plan on living larger, really the better poets recites the desiderata, if you really wanna grow eat 100% cacao chocolata.
