Sophie Hur ‘Lit’

Brisbane born creative, Sophie Hur moved to NYC to pursue acting in the big apple & a year later, discovered her passion for film photography. Her 35mm is the only camera she owns & is yet to leave her side. When she isn’t capturing candid images of her dear friends in their natural element, she’s forever experimenting with colour & light in intimate spaces, & the emotional quality it creates when intertwined with her subject’s unique personality.

“I never use any professional equipment, instead I like to experiment with objects that are lying around like broken lamps, two dollar torches, potato sacks & empty chocolate boxes, to create certain effects on the subjects. I literally had a torch balancing on one of my Birkenstocks. I like to create a comfortable environment with the model, where the shoot itself is almost secondary to our conversation together.”
